The following will be required for your enrollment onto the course being accepted on GSCE results day Thursday 22nd August. Students who do not complete will not be enrolled and places on a reserve list.
1.
Set up your own blog for Film
Studies - see the teaching blog for instructions how to do this
2. Watch Children of Men. Write a 450 word analysis
on the
narrative,
themes,
messages and style (see * below for guidance) post to your blog
3.
Pick one of the Independent films suggested on the blog and watch
this. Video your Pitch of a 25 word treatment for a sequel
or prequel
for the film - youtube & post to your blog
4.
In groups of 2 or 3 Swede a Blockbuster film from 2012-13 (main narrative points) on your film post it to
Youtube and link to your blog. Use your phones & editing apps available.

Examine
and give reasons/meaning for the following in the film:
STYLE
- How is it shot, edited? Is there anything unusual about how it
visually tells the story? Colours, Lighting, Locations, Costume,
Camera, Editing? What makes it look unique? Why is it filmed in
this way?
NARRATIVE
- What are the roles & relationships between the characters,
what dilemmas do they confront and what do they do to solve
problems? What makes Theo/V/Evey go on this journey - what is their
motivation? How does the film end and why - what is the meaning?
THEMES
- Discuss the themes & how is they are explored: Dystopia,
Survival & Conflict, Terrorism & Fascism, Infertility,
Suicide? How are these used to communicate...
MESSAGES
& VALUES -
What ideas or beliefs is it exploring, what does the character
learn, what is the sub-text (the meaning behind the film)? What is
the warning? What is it saying about the importance of
children/reproducing? Is there any religious significance?
